Paul Vandergrift's 1987 1,600 meter state record of 4:03.22 is celebrating its 30th anniversary atop the all-time Pennsylvania leaderboard. The party, however, may be short-lived as a wealth of distance running talent has taken over the Keystone State.

Carlisle's Noah Affolder, a transfer from New York, has become one of the state's greatest all-time distance runners in the few months he's spent here since moving to central PA with his family. Affolder, who ran 4:07.33 for a full mile last indoor season lowered his PR to 4:07.24 en route to a win at the Millrose Games, which is an indoor state record. He also ran an 8:46.08 for 2 miles at New Balance Nationals Indoor.
