A couple of Pennsylvania javelin throwers posted some big performances out in Idaho.
Last year, Jordan Geist bettered his own state record in the shot put at the Iron Wood Throws Classic, but there was no Geist this season. Instead, it was Mifflin County sophomore Skylar Ciccolini and Dunmore junior Gavin Darcy, who stole the show in Rathdrum, Idaho.
Ciccolini tossed a huge lifetime best throw of 164-9 to take the win over Kansas standout Dana Baker, who threw it 161-8 for second. That throw moves Ciccolini up to US#2 behind only Connellsville's Madison Wiltrout, who threw 173-10 earlier this spring in a dual meet. Last week, Ciccolini took second to Wiltrout at the PIAA Track & Field State Championships, where she threw 155-7, which was her PR before Iron Wood.
North East's Lillian Hill placed fourth in the girls' javelin with a throw of 141-3.

In the boys' javelin, Darcy continued his strong season, placing second. The PIAA Class AA champion from last weekend threw 207-5 to take runner-up honors to South Carolina's Liam Christensen, the current US#1. Christensen threw 214-4 for the win. Darcy entered Iron Wood as the US#3 with a season best throw of 212-10.
