DVGTCA Meet #1 - Meet Preview
***Preview based on entries as of 9pm Thursday, 12/14***
SPRINTS/HURDLES
After going US#1 in the 55-meter hurdles at Ursinus, Perkiomen Valley's Christina Warren will return to the hurdles this week. This time around, it's the 60-meter hurdles. Warren will look for another national-leading time, which currently sits at 8.47 (Warren's PR is 8.65).
The 400 meters will bring a big early season matchup. Cheltenham's Alexis Crosby, the state's top returner will square off with Springside Chestnut Hill's Alexandria Kitchell. Both will be chasing the PA#1 time there.
Lower Merion's Aja Davis will look for a hot start to her season. She'll be one of the top seeds in both the 60 meters and the 200 meters. Newcomer Bailie Stovall of Friends' Central and Cheltenham's Brielle Lewis will look to challenge her in the 60, while Chester's Kamani Johns, who captured attention winning the 400 meters at Ursinus, will go after the win in the 200 meters.
In the 300 meters, Coatesville's Porsha Miles will be looking for a big start to her sophomore season.
DISTANCE
The mile has plenty of talent. Cardinal O'Hara's Christine Mancini will join Academy of Notre Dame's Jessica Schneider, West Chester East's Allyson Clarke, Neshaminy's Kaylee McCullough, Strath Haven's Abby Loiselle, and Central Buck South's Madi Tomaselli in what should be a good race.
Amy Willig of Great Valley will go for the win in the 1,000 meters, while Coatesville's Sammie Miller will be the one to beat in the 800 meters.
Int he DMR, it looks like North Penn may be chasing a quick early season time.
FIELD
Madison Langley-Walker of Upper Dublin will be one of the state's most exciting athletes to watch for this winter. She'll kick things off Friday in the high jump and the long jump. She's a two-time indoor state in the long jump, but she's somewhat new to the high jump, though she did clear 5-6 last spring.
In the high jump, she'll face competition from Cheltenham's Brianna Smith and Bishop McDevitt's Blair Knuckle. In the long jump, PV's Warren and Council Rock North's Marissa Hsu are also entered.
