The 3,000 meters, the longest individual race in the PTFCA's set of events, is grueling enough when you're fresh. But Marlee Starliper of Northern was on the line for the 3K at Saturday's PTFCA Indoor Track Carnival not long after running the 800 meters.
Starliper took third in the 800 (WATCH HERE), so she was aiming for a little redemption in the 3K. Well, not only did she dominate the field, but she also ran the ninth fastest 3,000 meter time in state history. The sophomore sensation clocked a 9:52.26 for a big win. It's the fastest time in PA this season and the seventh fastest time in the nation so far this season.

It's been a great indoor season so far for Starliper, who has already run the fourth fastest mile in state history when she went 4:44.97 to take third at the Millrose Games. She's riding the momentum she generated during the fall where she won a AA XC state title and won the Foot Locker Northeast Regional.
Starliper said she'll enter in the mile and the 3,000 meters at the state meet. The mile, which comes first in the meet schedule, will present a rematch with Gabrielle Wilkinson, who won the mile at the Millrose Games in 4:42.94 (PA#2 all-time) ahead of Starliper.
