Boys' 4x400-Meter Relay Preview
The boys from Saint Joseph's Prep have the top time in the state by quite a healthy margin after dropping a 3:18.23 at the New Balance Games, where it took the win earlier this season. Anchored by the No. 1 400-meter runner in the state in Miles Green, in addition to PA#3 Robert Dupell and PA#10 Salim Epps, a freshman standout, Prep looks close to unbeatable with the next seeded time coming in over seven seconds behind them.
We'll see if Prep can chase the state meet record of 3:18.73 from 2002, a very long-standing record, and hey, possibly even Abington's all-time state record 3:16.78. But, of course, the main goal on Sunday is to just win.
Two teams with a good shot of challenging Prep are and Chester and Central Bucks West. Chester won the Meets of Champions and has a good stable of 400 meter runners that will look to get in the mix. CB West, meanwhile, ran a quick flat track time of 3:27.79.
Pennridge, North Penn, and Upper Darby are among the other strong teams that will make up that final heat. Among the other teams to watch for include Abington, Neshaminy, Perkiomen Valley, Penn Wood, and the defending champions from Bishop Shanahan.
