Team Breakdown: PIAA District 2 Boys

D2-A Boys - Team Breakdown

Montrose has made quite a home for itself in 1A. Since entering the classification in 2016, Montrose has been unstoppable in District 2. The team has rolled to district titles and high states finishes each of the last two years. This year, Montrose goes for its third straight D2-A title and could also be looking at improving upon its third place states finish from last year.

Reigning district champion Brandon Curley has graduated, but four other varsity boys return from last year's Montrose team that put its whole top seven in the top 12 at districts and scored just 26 points. Liam Mead will be called on to lead this squad this season. Colin Spellman and Max Brewer are also among some of the top returners in the district.

A relatively young Holy Cross team will be aiming to challenge the defending champs. Led by Andrew Healey, the individual district favorite and one of the top 1A runners in the state, HC has some solid pieces in place. Holy Cross had three freshman in its top five last season.

Blue Ridge, Wyoming Seminary, and Elk Lake will also be looking to get in the conversation for the lone state qualifying spot in District 2 Class A this season.
