Girls' Distance Medley Relay Preview
The DMR is frequently a battle of "what do you have left?" near the end of a long meet. Few squads come in fresh and it will be no different this season.
Strath Haven posted it's current US#3 time in the first DVGTCA meet of the season. Haven will look to replicate that effort later in the day. They are the No. 2 seeds in the 4x8 and top runner Grace Forbes is also running the open 800 meters.
Friends' Central are the defending champions and have won two of the last three state titles in the DMR. FCS is once again a deep squad in the distance events. With a season best of 12:11, look for Friends' Central to be in the mix for its third DMR win in four years.
Penn Charter went 12:24 this season and boasts a strong distance squad. Academy of Notre Dame was a close second to FCS at the DVGTCA Meet of Champions this past week, running a best of 12:26. Central Bucks West comes in with a 12:28 and should mix it up here.
West Chester East, State College Area, West Chester Henderson, and Fox Chapel Area will also contend for medals in the deep field With just one heat, it will get very exciting in this war of attrition. The key will come down to which squads can most effectively double back from other events earlier in the meet.
