PIAA States Preview: Boys' Sprints/Hurdles

AAA Boys' 4x100m Relay Preview

At Saturday's District 3 Championships, the Central Dauphin East boys ran into the Pennsylvania record books, clocking a 41.10 to break the all-time state record in the 4x100-meter relay. With the record out of the way, CD East will turn it's focus to one thing: winning the state title.

But the state title is no given in a deep year for the event. Coatesville took home the District 1 title and ran a PA No. 2 time of 41.54 in the prelims on their home track. The Red Raiders are a solid group, capable of running a very quick time and challenging CD East. Downingtown West popped a very fast 41.76 to take a close second to Coatesville in D1, so the Whippets are now a team to keep a eye on.

It may very well take a state record to win this race.

Cheltenham, Chambersburg, Pittsburgh Central Catholic, Altoona Area, and J.P. McCaskey will also be in the hunt in the 4x1, where, of course, anything can happen.

CD East is the team to beat here, but this will be a can't-miss race. Harrisburg's meet record (which was the all-time state record until this past weekend) is once again in danger.
