Zach Gehm took home the national title in the men's discus at the USATF Junior (U20) Championships.
Gehm, who graduated last year in 2018 from Seneca Valley High School in Harmony, Pa., threw 197 feet, 10 inches for the victory. The Youngstown State freshman had a monster series, particularly in the finals. Gehm threw 192, 197, and 195 feet with his fourth, fifth, and sixth attempts, respectively.
As a senior at Seneca Valley, Gehm threw 194-08 to win the PIAA Class AAA title. With his win on Saturday in Miramar, Florida, Gehm has qualified to represent the USA at the Pan-American U20 Championships in Costa Rica, set for July 19-21.
