LaSalle Takes Second At Bowdoin

The LaSalle College boys pulled out a strong second place team performance at New York's Bowdoin XC Classic in Wappinger's Falls.

On the course that the Explorers will see again at the NXR Northeast meet in late November, LaSalle took runner-up honors to New Jersey powerhouse Christian Brothers Academy (CBA). LaSalle put up 70 points to CBA's 46. In the meet merge, combining the Varsity Boys I and Varsity Boys II races, LaSalle was also second to CBA, 69-110.

Ethan Maher led the way for LaSalle, taking second overall with a huge race. Maher, a senior, went 16:18 just six seconds off the race winner, Shaw Powell of CBA. That's good for a 183 speed rating, per TullyRunners.

Vincent Twomey was eighth in 16:54 and Bradden Koors was 12th in 17:07. Patrick Coyle had a strong race, taking 16th in 17:09 and Dan Gervino rounded out the scoring five, taking 32nd in 17:31.

Saturday's performance at Bowdoin is the second straight strong race for the Explorers, which opened up in a big way at the Briarwood Invitational two weeks ago. Using CBA, a traditional NXN qualifer out of the Northeast region, as a benchmark, LaSalle proved its in a good spot as it hits October.

It will be a quick turnaround for LaSalle, which is slated to toe the line at Saturday's Paul Short Run at Lehigh University.
