PTFCA Indoor States Preview: Boys' Field

Boys' Triple Jump Preview

Jaden Price-Whitehead of Upper Dublin will be looking to complete the horizontal jumps double at indoor states by winning the long jump and then the triple jump. The long is likely his better event, but he still enters the triple at PA No. 1 and the top seed in the state meet field.

Price-Whitehead jumped his best of 47-10.25 at the Burdette Classic and also leapt 47-6 and 46-8 on the season. He's been consistently strong all season long and he'll look to make the triple his second victory of the day on Sunday.

But Shaler Area's Cam Mbalo will make for very strong competition for Price-Whitehead. Mbalo, a senior, jumped an indoor PR of 47-1.25 to win the TSTCA crown last week. He also jumped 46-10 this season, so Mbalo has been solid all winter, too. He has an outdoor best of 47-10.5 and should be a major factor in what should be an exciting triple jump competition. Mbalo was seventh at states last year, and Price-Whitehead was eight; they are the only returning medalists from last winter.

The versatile Kasey Savage of Hatboro Horsham (a medal threat in the high and long jump, too) will be in the mix as well. He jumped 46-3 to win at a TFCAofGP meet this season, and should make a run up the leaderboard on Sunday. Susquehanna Township's Camdyn Allen (45-11.75 season best) is knocking on the doorstep of 46 feet and this weekend would be a perfect time for the senior to break into that territory.

The Penn Charter duo of Patrick Fehm and Akeel Blake will be aiming for top five spots, too. Fehm, a high jump medal contender, has a best of 45-10 in the triple this season, while Blake, the second-ranked long jumper, has a SB of 45-1.5 in the triple.

Very little separates the next group of triple jumpers in this field and the eight medal spots are really up for grabs. All in all, this will be a very good event to keep an eye on.
