A big postseason meet is coming to West Chester Henderson later this month. On Saturday, Nov. 21, Henderson is hosting some races on the track.
There will be a competitive elite high school 5K that will feature some top athletes from the state, as well as open 3200 meter and 5Ks races. There are already some big names confirmed, including Jenna Mulhern, the District 1 XC champion that placed fifth at the PIAA State Championships this past week.
Races start at noon. There will also be some elite men's and women's 5Ks after the high school action.
Here's some more meet information from the meet director:
The Boundary Battle lets athletes challenge themselves against the fastest high school, community and elite distance runners in the Mid-Atlantic region.
High School 5000m: In this state versus state elite high school battle royal, athletes will be teamed with other runners from their home state and the meet will be scored like an invitational with top honors going to the state with the lowest combined score through 5 runners.
Elite Athlete 5000m: After the high school runners light up the track with some fast times, the elite men and women's fields will toe the line and dig deep for some serious speed! The fields for the elite races are starting to ramp up and should feature some of the best runners on the east coast. If you are interested in joining please email firstname.lastname@example.org. (The Elite races will be later in the meet.)
Open 3200m and 5000m: There's also an opportunity for athlete of all abilities to run a fast 3200m or 5k on Henderson's newly resurfaced, lightning fast track! This is a great way to end your season and give college coaches a chance to see a fast time from you.
