AAA Girls Pole Vault Preview
It's been a banner season for Chloe Timberg and the senior will look to close out her brilliant high school career with a AAA state title. The Central Bucks West pole vaulter went from good to very good to the best ever over the past year-plus.
Timberg broke the all-time Pennsylvania state record, cleared 14-2.25 at the CB West Relays, becoming the first PA girl ever over 14 feet. She is ranked third in the country and she will aim for some more big heights at the state meet. Interestingly enough, this will be her first appearance at the state meet. Timberg has consistently been around the 13-6 to 13-9 range this season, and is the big favorite to capture the AAA win. The PIAA meet record sits at 13-3 and certainly Timberg will have a good shot to take that down.
Unionville's Meghan Hart is the only other girl to have cleared 13-0 this season, which she jumped to win the Ches-Mont title. She was third in District 1, but she will have a good shot to get high up on the medalstand this weekend.
Bethlehem Catholic's Cailey Spanitz (12-8 SB), Selinsgrove's Annalise Bond (12-7 SB), Kennett's Kristin Hoffman (12-6 SB), McDowell's Kalli Knott (12-4 SB), Bethel Park's Megan Malecki (12-1 SB), and Mechanicsburg's Annika Hummel (12-0 SB) are among the eight AAA girls to have gone over 12 feet this season.
A few others will have a shot to get over 12 feet, as well. While Timberg is the big favorite to take the win, it will be a great battle for the other spots on the podium. This, of course, will be among the premiere events at Ship on Saturday.
