Katie Urbine, Jabrie Gaymon Win Performer of the Week Poll

The votes are in and this week's performers of the week have been named!

Congratulations to Katie Urbine of Solanco and Jabrie Gaymon of North Penn, who won our fan vote! Here's more on the winners below and click here for a look at the poll results.

Girls Performer of the Week: Katie Urbine (Solanco)

Urbine joined the 13-feet club at the PTFCA Carnival, clearing 13 even in the pole vault to capture the win. That height tied Veronica Vacca's spot atop the Pennsylvania state rankings. That makes her the twelfth girl in state history to clear 13 feet and is tied for ninth all-time.

The junior has been closing in on the milestone all season, having cleared 12-6 on three occasions in competition. It's been a season of terrific improvement for Urbine, who jumped a best of 11-6 this past spring outdoors, when she placed sixth at the PIAA State Championships.

It's been a great year for vaulters in Pennsylvania and the pole vault is shaping up to be one of the most hotly contested events at the PTFCA State Championships. Urbine will be right in the mix for the top spot.

Boys Performer of the Week: Jabrie Gaymon (North Penn)

Gaymon has been steadily improving all winter in the triple jump, and the senior finally got his big pop at last Friday's TFCAofGP Last Chance Meet at Lehigh. He put down a mark of 45-4 to bring him all the way up to PA No. 1 on the season. Gaymon jumped 43-11 in early January, but his Last Chance Meet performance was a foot and a half improvement on that.

Gaymon is certainly right in the mix for the state's top spot in the triple next week at the PTFCA State Championships. His performance from last week could be enough t make him the top overall seed next week.
