Girls PREVIEW: PFTCA Indoor Track Carnival

The PTFCA Indoor Track Carnival will take place this Saturday and some of PA's best girls will attempt to improve their standings.

Relays

Haverford Township returns to the track this weekend and they lead the way for PA's best at the Carnival. Just this past weekend, they ran a US No.1 and PA No. 3 all time DMR (11:59). They'll look to better their time from last weekend and climb the all time rankings even further.

Pennridge is entered in the 4x800m and have a 9:41.53 to their name, a PA No. 4 performance. Perkiomen Valley will be right in the hunt just a few seconds back from Pennridge, while Upper Dublin and West Chester Rustin should be dangerous too.

Chester, Cheltenham, West Chester Rustin, Garnet Valley, Boyertown and Central Bucks West will square off in the 4x200m. They are all ranked inside the PA Top 15, with Chester sitting as the PA No. 3 with their 1:44.32. The question remains - whether any other team can find two seconds. Chester should own the top seed by that margin - and it will take a a sub 1:45 to beat them.

Sprints

Watch Kaddel Howard run the 400m at the Golden Wolves Challenge

Heading the sprints, Kaddel Howard and Ka'Nai Bey-English will battle out over 400m. Howard is the current PA No. 2 (57.03) and Bey-English is close behind at No. 4 (57.31). With only .24 separating the two, they'll be in a tightly contested battle while trying to close the gap between them and the PA No. 1 time of 55.89 set by Avery Lewis. Both girls will also compete in the 200m, where they will try to break the two way tie they currently have for PA No. 4 at 25.24.

Macaela Walker is PA's fastest over the 60m hurdles (8.80) and third fastest in the 60m (7.73). She won both events at the Kristian Marche Invitational and she'll look to improve on those marks this weekend.

In the 60mH, Keturah Darwon could play upset. She is the current PA No. 3 with her 9.13 and is certainly one to watch.

Field and Jumps

In the pole vault, Katie Urbine and Kirstin Hoffman will face off as PA's No. 3 and No. 4 respectively. They are separated by just two inches at 13-2 and 13-0, so the win could sway either way.

Grace Patterson is tied for PA's No. 2 over the high jump with her 5-4 and only an inch separates her from tying PA's top mark so far this season. She is followed by Niya Jeffers and Teresa Moore who are both in an eight person tie for fourth overall in PA with jumps of 5-3. Moore jumped 5-5 last outdoor season.

Ryleigh Marks and Zoe Charles will dual in the long jump/ With season best marks of 17-9 and 17-8.75 respectively, they enter with nearly even standards. Ciara Frederic could beat them both. She has jumped 17-6 this season and is likely looking for a solid mark before the championship season.

Avery Dowkus and Ericka Jackson will go toe-to-toe in the Girls Shot Put. They have both thrown over 39 feet and are the current PA No. 4 and No. 5.

Distance

On the distance side, Alli DeLisi leads the field for PA in the mile. She was last year's PA No. 3 and she took 2nd place at the PTFCA Indoor State Championship. She has run as fast as 5:06.38 so far this year and is likely targeting sub 5. She'll have a formidable foe in Madelyn Keating who has run 5:07.7 (1600m to Mile Conversion) and is the current PA No. 15 in the event.

The mile field also features Victoria Rodriguez, Camryn McGeehan, Brooke Preputnick, Anna Carruthers, and others - so the win could come from numerous girls in the fast heat.

The 800m top seed will likely go to Dani Shipon who has run 2:18.97 this year and is the current PA No. 17.

In the 3000m, Amy Devan (PA No. 5) and Lacey Danilovitz (PA No. 7) will look to climb the state rankings this weekend. Keep an eye on Kailey Granger and Camryn McGeehan. They are PA No. 24 and 14 respectively. Granger finished fifth at the PIAA 3A XC Championships this past fall.
