Outdoor is finally here. The birds are chirping, the sun is shining, and javelins are flying through the air. Who doesn't love this time of the year?
For High School Javelin Throwers, the Spring represent a unique opportunity for them to work and test their craft. Over the Winter months, they have been working on technique, lifting, and throwing practice javelins in the confines of their local gyms. Occasionally, they've been able to escape to nicer weather and throw through some fresh air.
The returning girls' javelin field is locked and loaded this outdoor season. With some of the best talents returning to the throwing pad - the chase for a state title is on.
Evelyn Bliss is far and away the top returner in the field. She ended last year with a win at the Jud Logan National Throws Festival - hucking 151-7.25. That was a six foot personal best and the tenth best mark nationally. She'll be hunting her first 2A state title this season as she continues to climb the PA All-Time list....
