On Friday - Avery Lewis (Friends' Central) rose to the occasion yet again. She earned the Pan-American U20 Long Jump Championship in Puerto Rico, jumping 20-5 to secure the victory.

Lewis, surprisingly, started out slow. Her first jump was a measly 17-10.25. But with her second jump she catapulted herself into second. Throughout the next two attempts she remained stagnant before rattling off her two best attempts in her two final jumps.

She overcame Brazil's Vanessa Sena dos Santos to win the championship. Santos jumped 20-3. Fellow American Morgan Davis jumped 19-8 for third.

Lewis then returned in the 4x100m and helped lead the United States to a U20 American Record in the event. The Americans ran 42.88 and bested team Jamaica in the process.

Sanaa Hebron (Neshaminy 22') earned 400m Hurdle Gold by running a blistering 56.90. She left no question and scorched the field, besting Michelle Smith of US Virgin Island by just over a second.

Evelyn Bliss (Union-Allegheny Clarion Valley) finished second in the Women's Javelin. Bliss threw a strong 173-0 to earn Runner-Up honors for Team USA. The mark is a new personal best for Bliss.
