The Girls

Writer's Prediction: Avery Lewis wins with a 7.30 effort

Avery Lewis (Friends' Central) is the favorite for the Girls' 60m dash. Lewis is the returning PTFCA Indoor State Champion after she set the meet record last year in 7.22. She remains undefeated in the 60m dash this season and holds the state lead at 7.41.

We might not see Lewis improve upon last year's meet record but never say never. She will compete in three other events (200m, 4x400m, and long jump); the relay is an additional event to her historic triple last year, so odds are she will be budgeting her energy throughout the day.

However, Lewis will have to hold off the likes of Oxford Area's Macaela Walker and Spring Grove's Laila Campbell... so a considerable effort may be necessary to win the 60m dash.

Last year's PTFCA Indoor runner-up, Walker, has clocked 7.57 this season. Notably, she also ran a solid personal best of 7.02 this year in the 55m dash.

Campbell is another individual who will be in top contention. She is also undefeated in the 60m dash this year and ran a 7.58 to win the Bison Open and Multi. That was a relatively competitive collegiate meet with a mix of athletes across all three NCAA divisions.

Monroe Law (Winchester Thurston), Olivia Renk (South Fayette), and Aasly Deleon (JP McCaskey) are others to watch.

The Boys

Writer's Prediction: Shaun McCoullum (George Washington) will have to run sub 6.85 to win.

This one will be an absolute heater. The top seven ranked boys in the state have all run within a tenth of a second of one another, ranging from 6.86 to 6.93.
