The Girls

Writer's Prediction: Ka'Nai Bey-English runs 56.48 to win a close battle

The girls' 400m dash should make for an exciting one. The top four seeds are separated by 0.65-seconds.

Ka'Nai Bey-English (Pickett Campus - Mastery Charter), last year's 6th-place finisher, paces the field at 56.29. Her effort was a personal best from the Kristian Marche Memorial Invitational.

Janaisa Dearry (Chester) is the No. 2 seed at 56.71. She also ran this at the Kristian Marche Memorial Invitational, taking second to Bey-English.

Payton Drumwright (Engineering & Science), last year's 8th-place finisher, has run 56.87. That was a personal best for Drumwright.

Rounding out the top four is Kaddel Howard (Cedar Crest), last year's state champion. Howard won the PTFCA Indoor State Title last year in 55.57. This year, she ran a season-best of 56.94 at the Lancaster PAL's LL Challenge.

The Boys

Writer's Prediction: Horton-Mims goes 47.97 to claim gold

Horton-Mims is the favorite for the 400m dash as well. He leads the state with a 47.60 PR that he ran to win the Kristian Marche Memorial Invitational. Horton-Mims has had a consistent season in the 400m, running in the mid-to-low 48's on multiple occasions.

We should also look at Ade Lloyd, Jesufifunmi Olugbenga (Ridley), and Luke Coleman (Abington).

Ade Llyod has ran 48.34 this season to win the Garden State Invitational.

Olugbenga and Coleman enter the indoor state meet, sharing the PA No. 3 rank. Olugbenga got Coleman at the line to win the Ocean Breeze Invitational, with both running 48.57. We should also note that Coleman is the returning PTFCA State Championship fifth-place finisher.

AJ Glavicic (Strath Haven) and Sahfi Reed (Martin Luther King) are also in the conversation.
