On Wednesday, Jesse Myers posted a new state lead in the 200m.

On Thursday, Jayden Horton-Mims took it back.

At the District 12 Championships in Philadelphia, Horton-Mims ran 20.57 (+3.4) to win the Class 3A title. Though the mark was wind-aided, it is the second fastest time ever run by a Pennsylvania high schooler.

Shaun McCoullum (George Washington) finished second with a 20.88 (+3.4), while Logan Maloney (Cardinal O'Hara) finished in third with a 21.17 (+3.4). The top three were all juniors.

McCoullum ran the fifth-fastest mark in Pennsylvania state history, while Maloney ran the 11th-fastest. Every finisher in the top eight qualified for the PIAA State Championship next weekend by hitting the championship standard of 22.30.

Horton-Mims also won the District 12 400m championship in a quick 46.64. His personal best is a 45.82 that he ran earlier this year.

Next week, we are set for a clash between Horton-Mims, McCoullum and Jesse Myers (State College). Myers, the defending state champ, will look to hold off the hard charging Horton-Mims and his District 12 counterpart.
