State & national champs headline elite field at 21st PTFCA Track Classic 3/26 @ Plymouth-Whitemarsh

Timmons at the 2004 PIAA State Championships,
where he won the AAA 100 and 200 titles.

Three-time PIAA sprint champion Knowledge Timmons of William Penn, York and Nike Indoor Championships High Jump champ Erin Hannon of Bradford, headline an elite lineup of athletes and teams that include state and national champions set to compete at the opening meet of the season - the PTFCA Track Classic this Saturday, March 26th at Plymouth-Whitemarsh.

Registration is closed and seeding is complete. If you're not competing this Saturday, it may be worth the visit to get an early look at the competition. Five meet records were set in 2004. That's a lot, considering the quality of the marks. For the updated Meet Records list, click here.

Timmons will compete in the 100 and 200, while you'll fiind Hannon active in the Long Jump, High Jump and Triple Jump, along with the 100 hurdles (more on that event in a moment). Also competing are Simon Gratz with their great relays and in a few individual events; Gratz's Clarenchell Tate in the 100 and 200; Wissahickon's Krista Simkins in the 200 and 400; Caitlin Klaas in the open 800, along with her state champ team in the 4x800; AAA XC champ Katie Thaeder in the 3200; and Shot Put indoor state champ and frosh star Karen Shump of Penncrest. Plus, along with Timmons, and Hannon, there will be a lot of talent coming from outside District One, including State College, Annville-Cleona, Biglerville, Northampton, Mount Carmel, and Cumberland Valley.

And the deepest race of the day has to be the hot heat of the girls' 300 Hurdles, featuring: Chanel Williams (Plymouth-Whitemarsh), Shadae Downer (Dobbins), Jawanda Jackson (Chester), Dana Haslett (Pennridge), Persha Lane (Simon Gratz), Maura Ryan (Gwynedd-Mercy), Brittani Adams (Norristown), and Ryann Krais (Methacton).

Stop by if you're in the area. The forecast is for a very slight chance of showers, and temps in the 50's. The action starts at 10.
