The Cardinal O\'Hara girls came in as favorites, especially after their win at the Briarwood Invitational. But Radnor has been a program on the rise in recent years, and it\'s beginning to pay off. Three underclassmen led the charge for Radnor, taking 1st, 2nd and 4th to start with seven points. Frosh Katie Lally won in 19:18, with teammate Shannon Holm, a junior in three seconds later for runner-up, and junior Liz Milewski at 4th, going 19:48. That low scoring was needed, especially after June Farley took 12th... because O\"Hara proceeded to put seven runners in front of Radnor\'s 5th, Marian Dalke in 40th. The final difference was two points, 59 to 61. Pre-race favorite and two-time Delco champ Katie Kelly of O\'Hara had a rough day, finishing 18th.
O\'Hara had it a bit easier in the boys race, and pre-race predictions held firm for the NE#10 school. Greg Thomas ran a quick 16:17 for the conditions. He was followed across the line by Charlie McNulty in 4th, Matt Willard in 6th, Andrew Buemi in 11th and John Watts in 12th with a compression of 1:16 for a total of 34 points. Strath Haven was 2nd at a distant 93 points.
