Angela Wells, Simon Gratz posted the best Long Jump in PA with a 19'5 3/4" effort. Graduating sprint star Juanita Broaddus of William Penn did not compete after violating a team rule, but her teammates rallied to claim a 6th straight league title for retiring head coach Tim Hickey. According to published reports, Broaddus did not show up for school on Tuesday, and was not permitted to compete. One of those who led the team to the win was Clemson-bound Christina Smith. Smith captured four events, the 200 in 25.31, the 100 Hurdles in 14.56, the 400 Hurdles in 1:01.09, and the High Jump on Tueday (5-02). Teammate Karina Francis contributed a strong win in the 100 in 11.99, while Tyeshia Micale, Lynda Witfield, Kandis Worthington, and Dominique Samuels won the 4x800 in 10:03.91. Mike Syrnick, the Central junior, led his team to their 2nd straight title despite illness and injuries, winning the 800 in 1:56.94 and the 1600 in 4:32.52. Washington's Jerry Butler won the 100 in 10.82 and the 200 in 22.86. Wayne Williams, Olney, captured the Triple Jump (46'11") and the High Jump (6-4).
