There were meet records from all over PA - Drexel Hill, Mechanicsburg, Philly - plus a big one from a Florida transfer, at the 20th PA Track Classic at Plymouth-Whitemarsh. Upper Darby senior Jannea Bridgeford is gaining confidence (along with records and wins) as she cruises through her senior season. Bridgeford was named the track athlete of the meet with two win, a meet record 24.34 in the 200 and an 11.87 in the 100. Shawn Smith came into the Philly area and ran away with two wins and a second. His 10.99 and 22.30 were good enough for the 100 and 200 win, and he cleared 20-10 for 2nd in the Long Jump.

Friday\'s snow is nearly gone, and it won\'t be missed. It\'s spring, and it\'s time for that annual spring tradition, the Pennsylvania Track Classic, sponsored by PTFCA. Joining top athletes and teams from literally across the state - from Mt. Lebanon and Cumberland Valley, to Greenwood and the Philly-area teams, will be newly announced entry Hatboro-Horsham, both boys and girls. Read about the line-up and if you\'re in the vicinity of Plymouth-Whitemarsh HS on Germantown Pike near the Plymouth Meeting Mall, stop in anytime after 10. We\'ll leave a lane open for ya.

OHara going for DMR-4x800 double/Wray-Syrnick/9 sub-2's in 800, Kratzer@ PA Track Classic Don Rich Mar 21, 2004

Cardinal O'Hara, fresh off their #7 all-time DMR and PA #1 4x800, will attempt the same double in the same day at Saturday's Pennsylvania Track Classic. North Penn is their top competiton in the 4x800. Cumberland Valley and North Penn are seeded near the top in the DMR. But that's not the only hot event, as Perkiomen Valley loads the DMR against OHara, Wyomissing, and a Frances Koons-anchored Allentown Central Catholic in the DMR. Central's Michael Wray will run both the 110 and 300 Hurdles. Teammate Michael Syrnick is the top seed in the 800, with nine guys under 2. He'll also run the 1600. Jessica Kratzer of Greenwood is the top seed in the Shot Put and Discus, and the 2nd seed in the Javelin. Krista Simkins will help her Wissahickon teammates in relays only. The fireworks start at 10am with the DMRs. If you're anywhere near Philly, stop by.
