Chambersburg made their western PA trip worth it on Saturday pulling off a big team win at Slippery Rock against some strong WPIAL squads.
They had the low stick up front in the form of race winner Abby Yourkavitch, who took the win in 19:06. It's her second win of the season after starting off her season with a win at Big Spring. She's coming off an injury that sidelined her for PTXC 8, but she appears to be rounding into form as we approach the postseason. She spoke with Phil Grove afterwards:
Chambersburg's Kaylene Mowery was third and Cadie Kiser was fifth to lead a strong group up near the front. Chambersburg won the team race with 82 points. Mount Lebanon was second with 125 points, just one point better than third place Central Cambria. We spoke with Chambersburg coach Chris Monheim after the race:
Butler's Maggie Welty was second to Yourkavitch in a time of 19:25. New Brighton's Alyssa Campbell was fourth and DuBois Area's Cassie Folmar was sixth. Watch an interview with Welty below:
