PCL Regular Season Meet Preview
Before the Philadelphia Catholic League Championships later this winter, the PCL teams will head to Haverford College on Friday night.
BOYS: In the 60 meter dash, Bishop McDevitt's talented freshman Taylor Byrd will matchup with Saint Joseph's Prep Miles Green and Conwell Egan's Dylan Vlassenko.
In the 60-meter hurdles, West Catholic's Dajone Averett, who was PA#1 before last weekend (now PA#3), will be the one to watch. Averett is also entered entered in the long jump, where he'll face off with LaSalle's Alex Sislo. Sislo is also the one to watch in the high jump.
The 3000 meters should be a very quick race to keep your eye one (this meet doesn't have races 200 meters through the mile). The Cardinal O'Hara trio of Ryan James, Patrick James, and Gavin Inglis will toe the line. So will Bonner & Prendie's Dave Whitfield, Neumann Goretti's Kamil Jihad, and Roman Catholic's Sean Brown in what could shake up the state rankings just like last week did.
Be on the lookout for some fast relays on Saturday as well!
GIRLS: There are fewer big names on the girls' side, but we could still see some strong peformances.
West Catholic's Dasia Wilson is the top seed in the 55-meter dash, while Neumann Goretti's Destinee Thomas is the top seed in the 55-meter hurdles.
In the relays, look out for Cardinal O'Hara. O'Hara may try and go after a quick 4x800, something the Class-AAA XC state champions are certainly capable of.
