Viking Invitational - Meet Preview
The tenth edition of Perkiomen Valley's annual meet should be a good one, with a number of big names set to toe the line, runways, and throws' circles. Here's what we're watching for in Collegeville:
BOYS' PREVIEW
After a stellar indoor season, it's back to competition for Germantown Academy's Kyle Garland. Garland won a pair of state indoor titles--winning the 60 meter hurdles and high jump at Penn State--and then a national title in the pentathlon at indoor nationals. What does he have in store for the spring? Well, it starts Saturday.
Garland is entered in the 110 meter hurdles, 300 meter hurdles, and the high jump for Saturday. He has the potential to go after state leaders in all of those events, so the best we can do is sit back and watch the show.

In the 1600 meters, Quakertown's Hudson Delisle returns to the track a week after dropping a very quick time in the 1500 meters at Council Rock North. Germantown Academy's Owen Ritz will look to challenge him in what should be a quick race. Owen J. Roberts' Liam Conway will open up his outdoor invitational season in the 3200 meters. Conway, a junior, is coming off an indoor season that saw him take second in the mile at states. Kennett's Austin Maxwell is also in the 3200.
In the discus, watch for Kennett's Alec Sheehan. During the week, Sheehan threw a huge PR of 175-9 in a dual meet an he'll look to follow that up with a big throw on Saturday. He's also entered in the shot put where he'll face the strong Rustin duo of Connor Cummings and Edem Asamoa.
In the pole vault, watch for a good matchup between Kennett's Xavier Feliciano and West Chester Rustin's Charles Dever, who won a state medal in the event indoors.

GIRLS' PREVIEW
Also coming off a strong indoor season is the versatile Christina Warren of Perkiomen Valley. She'll have a busy day at her home invite. Warren is the top seed in the 100 meter hurdles, long jump, and triple jump--all events she has the potential to medal in at states this season.
Owen J. Roberts' Teneisha Myers had a strong start to her season at Haverford last weekend, and she'll be looking for a follow-up on Saturday. She's the top seed in the 200 meters and also entered in the 400 meters. In the 400, look for Springfield-Montco's Sydni Stovall. Stovall won a seventh place medal in the event at indoor states.
The 1600 meters had some strong entries. It's led by Notre Dame's Jessica Schneider, but OJR's Ally Brunton, West Chester East's Allyson Clarke, Perk Valley's Joceyn Rotay and Teaghan Scheinbecker, and Germantown Academy's Isabelle Goldstein will be in the mix.
The high jump will be a good matchup between Pottsgrove's Miazziah Rose and Boyertown's Rebecca Hemingway. In the shot put, watch for Germantown Academy's Meaghan Toscano, the top seed.
