Boys' White Race - Recap
Tristan Forsythe helped affirm what many already thought coming into the season: he's the one to beat in 1A. The Winchester Thurston senior ran away with the individual title in the White Race to open up the boys' races on Saturday.
Forsythe, who also won the White Race last year, controlled the pace in the early going and open up a nice gap. He coasted to the win in 16:38. Holy Cross sophomore Andrew Healey was third in 16:44, while Jenkintown's Jack Miller took third in 16:52.
While it was a repeat win for Forsythe the individual, it wasn't that way for his Winchester Thurston team (which also won the White Race last year). Instead, it was the upstarts from Penns Valley Area, who suddenly made themselves the team to beat in 1A this season.
Penns Valley put its entire top five in the top 20 and had a tight 32 second spread. Chris Colwell led the way with a sixth place finish, while freshman Colton Sands was seventh. Another frosh, Brendan Colwell, was ninth for PVA. They're a team that came on the radar when they opened with a win at Big Valley. Now Penns Valley has asserted they are the real deal.
Thurston wound up second with 87 points. Jenkintown showed off its talent, scoring 142 points for third. Saint Joseph's Catholic was fourth with a solid showing.
