Beveridge, Savchik Take Titles At WPIAL Precursor: Mack Cooper Invitational Recap

Mack Cooper Invitational - Girls Recap

Clara Savchik picked up her first invitational win of the season, going wire-to-wire to win the girls' varsity race in 18:38. That's a sign of good things to come for the senior from North Allegheny, who is the reigning District 7-AAA champ.

Running well for second was Sharon freshman Gianna Labbiento, who moved up nicely for silver in a time of 18:58. Labbiento continues to impress as she pushes forward towards the District 10 Championships in two weeks from Saturday.

Fox Chapel Area's Caelan Miller was third in 19:10, New Brighton's Alyssa Campbell was fourth in 19:36, and North Allegheny's Hannah Lindgren was fifth in 19:36. Northgate's Megan Wisniewski went under 20 minutes for the first time in her career, taking sixth in 19:45, a big breakthrough performance.

The team situation left no doubt. Fox Chapel Area rolled to the win, scoring just 62 points. The PA#2 squad was led by Miller's third place finish, along with strong races from Brooke Krally (seventh in 19:47), Sarena Seeger (15th in 20:08) and Annika Urban (16th in 20:08). As we push forward to championship season, FCA continues to be a serious state title threat.

North Allegheny was second with 163 points. Seneca Valley ran well to take third with 185 points, solidifying themselves as a strong contender to make the state meet. PA#8 Oakland Catholic, down usual top girl Hannah Schupansky, was fourth with 196 points.

Fairview put together a very strong effort to take sixth overall and the top spot when using just 1A teams for the score. Vincentian Academy was second with 73 points and Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic was third with 85 points. Maddison Hayes led the way for Fairview in a time of 20:04 for 13th place.

General McLane was the top girls' team with 76 points over second place South Fayette (97 points).
