Neumann Goretti Wins Team Title; Starliper, Warren, Davies Win 2: Girls PTFCA States Recap

PTFCA Indoor State Championship - Girls Field Recap

Berwick's Payden Montana closed out her great indoor season with a state title in the shot put. She also broke a 20-year-old state meet record in the process. Montana tossed a huge PR of 49-05.25 to take the victory by over seven feet! The previous meet record was 49-01.5 from 1998 by Heather Colyer (East Juniata). It also improves on Montana's own US#2.

The pole vault was a great competition between two girls who have been 1-2 in the state rankings for basically the entire season. In the end, Mackenzie Horn of Manheim Township took the win, jumping 13-0. Pittston Area's Abby Norwillo also jumped 13-0, but Horn picked up the state title on attempts.

In a very competitive girls' long jump, Athens Area's Breana Gambrell toook home the win. Gambrell jumped 19-06.5 on her fourth attempt, enough to take the win. Madison Langley-Walker of Upper Dublin jumped 19-5 for a close second.

Warren of Perk Valley, who won the hurdles, also added a state title in the triple jump. The outdoor state champ in the event added the indoor gold with a personal best jump of 40-10.75 in an incredible series that where all six of her jumps would have been good enough to take the win. Langley-Walker was second in the triple as well.

Lydia Bottelier of Palisades only competed in one invitational before states this winter, but she looked well-seasoned on Sunday, winning the high jump with a leap of 5-8. That matches her PR from the outdoor season last spring, which saw her win a AA state title.
