AA Girls' 300m Hurdles Preview
Neumann Goretti's Sydni Townsend will aim for a repeat state title in the intermediate hurdles on Saturday. The senior Pitt recruit ran 43.03 to take the AA title last year, and she enters the state meet in some of the best fitness of her career. She went 42.92, a PR, to win the PCL and then came back to win District 12 in 43.07. She's had a terrific career and she'll look to go out with a bang at Ship.
Susquehanna Community's Skyla Wilson was second to Townsend last year (and second in the 100-meter hurdles). Perhaps no one is hungrier to reach the top of the podium and Wilson will look to give Townsend a run for her money. Wilson's season best stands at 43.56, which she ran to win the District 2 title.
Swenson's Jada Smith was fourth last year and the D12 runner-up will look to go after the top spot, as well. United's Michaela Bracken (fifth in 2017) and Greenwood's Paityn Wirth (seventh in 2017) also return from last year's podium and will be looking for a return trip to the final.
District 4 champion Rachel Hutchinson of Athens Area will be in the mix after a 44.75 from last week. Western Wayne's Trina Barcarola and Trinity's Mia Kilroy are among the other contenders for medals in this solid field.
