Team Breakdown: PIAA District 2 Boys

D2-AA Boys - Team Breakdown

Dallas has won the last three District 2 Class AA titles and two of the last three state titles in the classification, but the defending D2-AA champs will have some retooling to do if it wants a another title in Lakeland.

Mitchell Rome is one of two varsity returners from last year's Dallas team, which won the district by 32 points and placed fourth at the state meet. Rome is the individual favorite for the district crown, but others must step up for Dallas this fall.

Holy Redeemer was second at districts last year and went on to place 14th at the state meet. Five boys return this season for Holy Redeemer, which will be hoping for a return trip to Hershey and possibly a district crown this season. Bryce Zapusek, who was ninth at districts last year, will likely lead HR into the season.

Abington Heights, which was second in the district in AAA last season, moves to AA for this season and could contend for the district title, or at least the top two. Ryan Siebecker and Stephen Haggerty are a pair of rising seniors that could position the Comets in states territory. Also switching classifications this year is Lakeland, which makes the move from 1A to AA. Lakeland was second in D2-A last season and brings back four varsity runners, including Zach Reeves, a strong No. 1 runner.

Honesdale, Berwick, and Scranton Preparatory are among the other teams that will shoot to make some moves up the team standings and compete for a top two spot in District 2 Class AA this season.
