Blairsville boys pulled off a narrow win over Indiana Area and Kiski Prep 54-60-63 to take home the league championship. Indiana did have the first two finishers of the race. Adam Lenze (17:24) and Ryan Louther (17:39) put Indiana on the front foot, but Blairsville had five in the top twenty to seal the title.
For the girls, Heather Paynter of Homer Center won the league championship with a time of 20:41 to win by 21 seconds over Hannah Fulton of Marion Center. Fulton's performance kept her team close for the team title, but Indiana County had six scorers in the top ten scoring places to take the team title 29-40. |

Midwestern Athletic Conference
For some schools, this weekend is the last chance to get ready before the championship meets start. For the schools in the Midwestern Athletic Conference, their postseason started Thursday. Quaker Valley boys started their postseason on the highest of highs, executing a 60 point victory to win the league title with an impressive 32 points! Their top five were separated by 40 seconds and was led by league champion Zach Skolnekovich. The freshman earned his first major title with a winning time of 17:12 to win by 4 seconds over Noah Ross of Blackhawk.
For the girls, the team title race was much closer compared to the guys race. The top four teams were separated by only 16 points and Laurel came away on top of that pack with 64 points to defeat Mars Area by 3, despite Mars having the best 1-5 spread in the group (47 seconds). West Allegheny's Alexis O'Shea had a comfortable time winning the league title, running 19:26 to win by nearly a full minute.

Baldwin
Baldwin hosted their midweek invitational to great success! The boys sqaud defended their home turf with a narrow 45-51 win over runners up Bethel Park. Baldwin had five place in the top 12 and seven in the top 25 overall. The spread from their 1st through 5th runners was an impressive 23 seconds, just one second better than Bethel Park's 24 second spread. Individual honors went to Washington D'heaven Kelley, who ran 16:29 to win by 10 seconds over Joncarlo Patton of South Fayette.
For the girls, Baldwin narrowly missed on completing a team sweep, falling 1 point short of defeating Upper St Clair for the team title 39-40. A 2-3-5 finish led by a runner up performance from Sarah Martin was enough for Upper St Clair to earn the win. Martin finished behind Kirsten McMichael of Ringgold for the individual title, as McMichael ran 19:27 to cruise to the win.

Westmoreland County Coaches Association
Greater Latrobe
Kiski Area boys used a 1-2 finish from county champion Patrick Miller (16:52) and freshman Eric Kennedy (16:59) to secure the team county championship over Franklin Regional 52-69. Kiski Area was the only team in the race to place three in the top ten.
For the girls, Kiski Area completed the team title sweep with three in the top ten and five in the top 15 to score 47 points and defeat Hempfield by 23. Bria McMahon of Franklin Regional ran a solid 18:56 to win the county championship over Kelley Giles of Norwin by nearly 30 seconds.

Cardinal O'Hara boys repeated once again as county champions, placing five in the top ten and seven in the top 12 to defeat Penncrest 31-68. Kevin James won his first individual county title, running 15:53 to hold off Chris Kazanjian of Penncrest by just under 10 seconds. Jim Belfatto of O'Hara finished 3rd in 16:18.
For the girls, the chase for the team title could not get any closer than it did. Two time defending champions Strath Haven looked set to repeat as champions, but faced a tough challenge from Cardinal O'Hara. Abby Kennedy got the 1 point for her team, winning the individual title in 19:18 ahead of the O'Hara 2-3-4 trio of Grace Mancini, Olivia Arizin and Amy Kelly. Maura Lyons was O'Hara's 4th runner ahead of Strath Haven's number 2, finishing 6th. But Strath Haven finished 7-8-9-11 behind Kennedy, while O'Hara'5 number 5 was 21st overall. When it was said and done, both teams scored 36 points, but Strath Haven retained the title as Alie Puchalsky, their number 6 runner finished 6 places ahead of O'Hara's number 6 to clinch the title via the 6th runner tiebreaker. Boys HighlightsCardinal O'Hara wins another. That is 11 of the past 16 years. This year's total was 31 points. Penncrest was 2nd at 68.

BOYS NOVICE 2:00 GIRLS JV 2:30 BOYS JV 3:00 GIRLS V 3:30 BOYS V 4:00 GIRLS TEAM PREVIEW The 2013 race appears to have only 2 teams that will climb 2-Mile hill in an effort to become the DELCO CHAMPS. STRATH HAVEN(ranked PA #9) was the Champion in 2011 and 2012. They also won in 2007 and 2008. In 2012 STRATH HAVEN only beat OHARA by 6 points and 2013 looks like another close battle!! OHARA 's last win was 2004, but they are truly underrated so far this year! They also added a new coach(to go along with the best married coaching team around) who brings with him experience and is a strong motivational leader! Both teams were going to match up at PAUL SHORT but the HEAT got the best of everyone!!!! Each of these teams could have all 7 of their Varsity runners in the top 20!!?? If either of those teams falter, HAVERFORD is next in line(They were 10-1 in the Central League). INDIVIDUAL PREVIEW The top 3 runners last year at DELCOS were all Seniors, so this year's individual champion race is wide open!! There is truly no favorite---There are 8 girls--that's right 8!!! who can win the coveted DELCO crown! The TOP 7 girls are likely to make 1st team DELAWARE COUNTY DAILY TIMES ALL-DELCO. GARNET VALLEY, HAVERFORD, SPRINGFIELD, OHARA and STRATH HAVEN all would love to see one of their top girls win this yearly DELCO competition. OHARA's top 2 are Mancini(10)(4th 2012) and Kelly(12)(15th 2011-6th 2012). Both have run in the 18's this season and Kelly has shown she is able to handle her 2 sports in the same season(XC and Hockey). GARNET VALLEY's McGroarty(12)(16th 2011-7th 2012) has been steady this season and was the 2013 DELCO 800 Champion last spring. HAVERFORD's Naser(12)(14th 2011-10th 2012) recently ran twice in the 18's on her home course and has held her own against other Central League #1's. She has only run 1 Invitational so far this season, and she ran awesome at Abington in early September. SPRINGFIELD's Galligan(12)(12th 2011) has overcome some tough injuries throughout her running career, but has been making major strides this season. Galligan is a tough competitor and could have the race of her life again(1600 as a soph) and wear the DELCO crown. STRATH HAVEN has 3 girls with a chance. Mesyngier(10)(12th 2012), Kennedy(12)(JV 15th 2012), and Wilson(12)(competing in soccer as well)(2013 1600 DELCO champion) all have a good shot to be with the leaders after the final horseshoe. Kennedy's improvement has been unreal and Mesyngier has shown glimpses of becoming a champion. BOYS TEAM PREVIEW OHARA! OHARA! OHARA!---Last year's team victory at DELCOS was unbelievable! Their Top 5 finished 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 9th after finishing 1st, 3rd,4th, 5th, and 6th the year before, and 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 7th in 2010!!!!!!. Historically, OHARA has dominated the DELCO XC CHAMPS. Coach Tom Kennedy's harriers have been FIRST 10 of the last 15 years!! This year OHARA is ranked #3 in PENNSYLVANIA(they are looking to win the BIG ONE--STATES--after finishing 2nd two years in a row)(In 2012 believe it or not they lost based on their 6th man as they tied West Chester Henderson when comparing each team's top 5). No DELCO team is even close to them this year. OHARA will make more TEAM HISTORY this Saturday!!!!!!! At least there may be a TEAM race for 2nd!? PENNCREST looks to be 2nd best with RADNOR, and HAVERFORD having a chance. INDIVIDUAL PREVIEW Lets look at some more HISTORY. An OHARA runner has been the DELCO Champ 9 of the last 13 years(including 2012). This year will likely be no different!! James(11)(2nd 2012) is the odds-on favorite(1st at Bulldog, 2nd at Briarwood and 7th in the strong Great American), James is the class of the DELCO field. A number of runners will try to capture the runner-up spot. Among them are OHARA's Belfato(12)(9th 2012) and Morro(10)(1st Novice 2012), PENNCREST's Kazanjian brothers Chris(12)(8th 2012) and Matt(12)(15th 2012), RADNOR's Holm(11)(18th 2012) and Hanson(12)(17th 2012) and HAVERFORD's Fowler(12)(5th 2012). |

Cole Nissley of Lower Dauphin edged out Carlisle's Zach Brem by just over a second to win the league championship gold medal with a time of 16:16.
 While two PA boys ranked teams competed in this race, the previously ranked State College sqaud overtook the duo of Carlisle and Lower Dauphin to win the team championship 72-93-98. State College was boosted by a 36 second spread and were led by a 6th place finish from Will Cather.  For the girls, Mady Clahane cruised to yet another victory, taking the league championship with a solid time of 18:53 to win by over 45 seconds over 2nd place. The girls race was also close at the top for the team title. Chambersburg edged out Cumberland Valley and State College to win the league title 82-95-106. Chambersburg had a 45 second spread help them to the title. |

Northeast Bradford
Mansfield and Wellsboro girls ran to a 52-52 draw, with Wellsboro having the better 6th and 7th runners to break the tie and win the meet. Violet Learn led Mansfield with a gold medal performance, running 19:43 to defeat Katelin Purdy of Towanda by 11 seconds.
For the boys, host Northeast Bradford picked up right where they left off prior to their long invitational layoff, scoring scoring 36 points to hold off Towanda by 11. Simon Smith of Towanda won the individual championship, runnig 16:17 to win by 21 seconds.

Germantown Friends School
Germantown Friends once again won both the boys and girls team titles at their league championship meet. The boys won the championship with a perfect score for the 3rd straight year with a 1-5 spread of 56 seconds. Freshman Nick Dahl came home with the individual championship with a time of 17:39.
For the girls, Germantown Friends scored 30 points with five in the top nine overall led by a 3rd place finish from Alison Love. Jerrica Bauer of George School made it look easy once again, running 19:57 to cruise to the individual title by over 30 seconds.

Ephrata
Greta Lindsley of Penn Manor repeated as league champion to get her postseason off on the right foot. The senior ran 19:15 to outrun Danae Peters of Manheim Central by just under 30 seconds. The race for the team title was tight, as Hempfield had to hold off Manheim Township 74-97 to come away with the league championship. Hempfield were the only team to place three in the top ten overall and were led by sophomore Molly Conrad's 4th place finish.

For the boys, Daniel Neiswender and his Cedar Crest easy had a nice run in the park on their way to comfortably win their league title over Hempfield 54-94. Neiswander was 15 seconds better than the field, running 16:27 to become the individual champion. His win led three runners in the top 8 overall and a they had a 1-5 spread of 66 seconds.

Parkland came up a little short in their defense of their league championship, as Freedom placed four in the top nine led by a 2-3 finish from Ben Ziegler and Jason Lopez to become the new champions 33-66. The champions had a 1-5 spread of 51 seconds. Colin Abert of Easton had little difficulty coming away as the league champion, running a solid 16:04 to win by 35 seconds over the field. For the girls, Parkland had a little more luck on their side compared to their male counterparts, coming away as the league champions with a 45-68 win over Emmaus, who had their best league finish in 4 years. Parkland were led by individual champion Mikayla Stoudt, who ran 19:51 to hold off Katie Bacher of Emmaus by 14 seconds. Stroudsburg and Pleasant Valley boys were head and shoulders above the rest of the league on Tuesday, but only one team can be called champion and Stroudsburg did it in the narrowest of fashions. Despite Pleasant Valley placing three of the first four places led by individual champion Seth Slavin (17:35.8), Stroudsburg kept their scoring five inside the top ten with a 35 second spread to win the team championship by a single point, 32-33.
For the girls, Sam Young of Pleasant Valley just dipped under the 20 minute mark, running 19:59 to not only win the individual championship, but lead her team to the team title with a win over Stroudsburg 32-42. Pleasant Valley placed four inside the top 8 to seal the win.

Olivia Gettle of York Suburban ran 19:24 to win the league championship by 18 seconds over Kayla White of Kennard Dale, who held off Rachel Banchiere of Susquehannock for that 2nd spot.

Hanover Area
Dallas girls successfully cruised to their league championship title, placing three of the first five runners and four in the top nine to score 29 points and win by 34. Regan Rome led the champions with a successful league title defense in a time of 18:48 to get her postseason off to a good start. Her sister Ally ran 19:17 to finish 2nd and make it a Rome sweep!

Mount Saint Joseph Academy
Mount St Joseph's girls fought off surging Gwynedd-Mercy Academy to become the new champions of the AACA. Mount St Joseph's placed three in the top eight and were the only team to have five in the top twenty, which was enough to hold off Gwynedd-Mercy 52-56. Individually, Nazareth Academy took home the first two places as Veronica Wheeler and Karli Visconto both ran identical 18:48 times to defeat the field by 31 seconds. Highlights

The up and coming Twin Valley boys got a big reward for their solid season of work. The squad used an impressive 21 second spread to place four in the top 13 and win the team championship over Wilson 43-62. Wilson did have the individual champion, as Jacob Connors ran 16:28 to hold off the Wyomissing duo of Kyle Shinn (16:35) and Jack Di Cintion (16:48) for the gold. Boys Highlights
For the girls, Governor Mifflin held off Daniel Boone 59-72 to come away with the girls team championship, placing three of the top six runners led by runner up Hannah Mansell. Mansell was part of a close finish in the girls race, as the top six runners finished within 8 seconds of one another. Elizabeth Chikotas of Saucon Valley continued her hot 2013 form with a dominating performance to win her league title. The senior ran an impressive 18:43 to win by a full minute. The team title went to Northwestern Lehigh who placed four in the top ten led by a 2-3 finish from Haley Yost and Carly Pierce. Their score of 36 points was 28 points better than 2nd place Southern Lehigh.
Girls Highlights
For the boys, Bangor Area had three of the top six runners in the race led by a runner up finish from Brandon Tocket. Their total of 58 points was enough to hold off Northwestern Lehigh by 13 points. Individual title honors went to Salisbury's Hyle Gonoude, who ran 16:58 to win by 13 seconds.

Hopewell boys fought off Beaver Area for the team title 85-94 with four in the top twenty led by a 6th place finish from Gregory Nero. Individual honors went to Domenic Peretta of Beaver Falls. His time of 17:34 was only nine seconds better than Southmoreland's Ben Bickerton.
For the girls, Alison Filer finished 2nd to lead Laurel to the team title over Bishop Canevin and Freeport 43-63-64. Laurel had their scoring five in the top 14 overall and six in the top 21. Molly Kennedy of Riverview came away with the individual gold medal, running 20:32 to win by 13 seconds over Filer.

Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference
Forest Hills
Central Cambria girls made their push towards a Class A state championship by winning their league championship over Somerset Area 35-77 with four runners placing in the top ten. Hannah Dorian of Westmont Hilltop came away with the individual championship, running 19:15 to win by 20 seconds over Arlee Simendinger of Penn Cambria.

For the boys, Central Cambria completed the team title sweep, although they had a much harder time winning. The Red Devils defeated Somerset by a single point, 43-44 thanks to having their 5th runner, Mike Walwro, finish one place better than Somerset's 5th runner after the top four from each team cancelled each other out with 27 points each. Bedford's William Kachman ran 16:21 to win the league championship by 16 seconds over Nick Bastian of Somerset Area. |

Laurel Highlands Middle School Championships
Forest Hills
Always a strong middle school program, the Central Cambria girls took five of the top ten spots to secure a 25-63 team win over Forest Hills. Led by Carly Kaschalk and Paige Wess in 9:36 and 9:40, respectively, the team's scoring was complete with 57 seconds on the 2500 meter course. The Richland boys placed four in the top ten and were 24 point winners over Forest Hills. Richland's Mitchell Szymkowiak was 4th over all in 9:32. Mifflin County High School
The Penns Valley girls took the Mountain Athletic Conference 38-50 over Clearfield by placing six in the top 12 behind Alyssa Limbaugh's 4th place 20:43. Clearfield's Clair Mikesell was the individual champ with her 20:25, followed within 11 seconds by Tyrone's Jordan Wiser and Bellefonte's Anya Hoaglund.
Using a 26-second spread, the Bellefonte boys were 8 point winners over Penns Valley, 22-41. Behind the one-two 18:11 by Michael O'Donnell and 18:16 by Brett Finley, the Raider's scoring was completed by Josh Cetnar (18:35), and Matt Dabiero and Ethan Diefenbach, both in 18:37. Nick Fuller of Penns Valley captured the first place medal with his 17:16. |

Schuylkill League Championships
Blue Mountain
Paige Stoner of Pottsville had a league championship victory race as she cruised to the individual championship in her final league meet. The 2010 AAA state silver medalist ran a strong 17:53 to win the race by over two minutes against the field. Her efforts also helped her team finish 2nd in the team standings behind league champions Blue Mountain, who placed all five runners in the top ten overall to score 33 points.

For the boys, Jim Thorpe had a 1-3 finish from league champion Jonathan Condly (16:44) and Christian Fields to propel the team to the league title over Pottsville 58-85. Jim Thorpe finished the race with six in the top 25 overall to seal the win.

 Conestoga boys and Strath Haven girls capped off undefeated seasons in the Central League with team championships in their league meet.
Conestoga doubled up Penncrest 39-68 with four in the top nine overall led by Andrew Marston's 3rd place finish in 16:02. Marston finished behind the Penncrest twin brother duo of champion Chris Kazanjian (15:56) and Matt Kazanjian (15:57), who ran the entire race side by side until the very end.
 Strath Haven girls won 42-92 over Conestoga with three in the top seven led by the 2-3 finish of Maia Mesyngier (19:39) and Abby Kennedy (19:47). The pair finished behind new league champion Grace Galligan of Springfield Delco, who ran 19:31 to win by 8 seconds. |

Marion Center Area
Blairsville boys used a 1-2 finish from senior brother duo Alex (18:36) and Ryan Horchar (18:43) to come away as the league champions, defeating Marion Center 35-51. Marion Center used a 49 second spread from their scoring five runners to keep the title race close.
For the girls, Heather Paynter of Homer Center followed up her Indiana County title win with a league title win. The junior ran 21:01 to win by 14 seconds over Hannah Fulton of Marion Center. Fulton's performance did lead her team to the team title over Ligonier Valley 28-59.

Philadelphia Public League Championships
Masterman boys had six of the top seven runners led by league champion Julian Degroot-Lutzner (17:12) with a 1-5 spread of 58 seconds to repeat as league champions with an impressive score of 18 points. Chris Hendry of Frankford finished 2nd to prevent Masterman from getting a perfect score.
For the girls, Masterman completed the team title sweep but had a harder time winning compared to their male counterparts. Masterman defeated Central 38-40 with each team having six runners in the top fifteen overall. Central had four in the top ten while Masterman had three in the top 7 to Central's 2 to pull off the win. Claudia Ashworth of Masterman ran 20:48 to win the individual gold medal by 38 seconds.

Pioneer Athletic Conference Champs
Kara Steinke of Methacton repeated as league champion, running 19:23 to take the championship by 13 seconds over Samantha Christman of Spring Ford. In the team standings, Owen J Robers used a 34 second spread and four in the top 8 defeat Perkiomen Valley's 14 second spread with five runners between places 9 and 14 to win the team title 39-56.
For the boys, Methacton had the identical 34 second spread as the girls champions and had four runners in the top ten led by league runner up Jeff Kirshenbaum to score 39 points and win by 25 over Pottsgrove. Kirshenbaum ran 16:34 to finish 4 seconds behind league champion Paul Power of Spring Ford (16:30).

Shaler Area's Brianna Schwartz and Fox Chapel Area's Ethan Martin warmed up for next week's district competition by taking individual gold at the Tri-State Track Coaches Association championship meet on a rainy, muddy layout at Cooper's Lake.
For the boys, Fox Chapel's Ethan Martin needed an all-out sprint over the final 200 meters to catch and slip past Grove City's Aaron Benka for the victory. |

West Chester Henderson  Both the boys and girls top ranked teams in PA had comfortable tune up performances to get them ready for next week's district championships.
US#2 Unionville cruised to a repeat of their league championship with five of the first eight runners to score 22 points to win by 54 over Downingtown West. Courtney Smith repeated as champion, running a quick 18:00-even to win by 40 seconds over up and coming freshman Aislinn Devlin of Downingtown West. Missing from the Unionville line-up was front-pack regular Emily Fisher, who was "under the weather," and needed for far bigger races over the coming weeks.

 The West Chester Henderson boys had five of the first nine runners with a 1-5 spread of only 11 seconds led by a 2nd place finish from Tony Russell and a 3rd place performance from Eric Stratman. Henderson finished with 28 points to win by over 60 points. West Chester East did have the individual gold medal winner in Chris Cummings.  Matt Malloy of North Penn ran 17:12 to win the individual title in a race of 382 finishers. His time was 10 seconds better than Matthew Allen of Hatboro Horsham. Malloy's performance also led five in the top 25 overall to win the team title over Central Bucks West 63-78.  For the girls, Mikaela Vlasic of North Penn just missed breaking the 20 minute mark, running 20:02 to win the individual title by just 8 seconds over Olivia Berry of Central Bucks West. CB West got revenge for their varsity runners over CB East, taking the JV team title over their rivals by one point, 53-54. |

Seneca boys made up for half of the top six finishers led by the 2-3 combination of Phoenix Myers and Paris Enterline to come away with the team championship over North East 35-61. Gary Olsen did bring some hardware for North East, as he came away with the individual title with a time of 17:53 to hold off Myers and Enterline.
For the girls, North East controlled the race and cruised to the team title, making up half of the top ten runners led by the 1-2 finish from champion Emma Verdonik (20:49) and Kate McIntosh (20:55) to defeat Union City 28-55.

Lakeview
Commodore Perry boys had a 1-5 spread of 51 seconds catapult them to the team championship over Hickory 50-90. Nathan White finished in 4th place to lead the champions. Individual honors went to Dylan Foley of Greenville. His time of 17:16 was 22 seconds better than Andrew Maxwell of Slippery Rock.
For the girls, Hickory had some more success than their male counterparts, placing three of the top five runners to hold on to the team title over Wilmington 48-55, despite Wilmington having a 57 second spread for their scoring runners. Lexi Bible led the champions to victory with the individual championship with a time of 20:22 to win by 28 seconds.

The girls were the first to compete for PIAA starting spots, and freshman Elena Woodworth of Obama led at every turn. Challenged late by junior teammate Chloe Mobley, Woodworth earned the win in 22:32.34, with Mobley next at 22:43.53. Olivia Nickles of Carrick was third in 23:10.76, followed by Obama's Kaileigh Macleod in 23:27.70 and Brashear's Elisa Varlotta in 23:31.94.
The Eagles had 28 points for the team crown, while Carrick was next with 44 and Brashear had 52.
On the boys' side, Carrick's Zackary Wierzchowski went to the front right after the starter's gun and staved off challenges from Perry's Christian Cook for the wire-to-wire victory. The junior's winning time was 17:47.88, while Cook needed 18:04.59 to complete the 3.1-mile course. The next four spots were occupied by Wierzchowski's sophomore teammates -- Josh Walters (18:39.59), Robert Warnock (19:00.70), Julian Jester (19:20.79) and Cody Kirk (19:29.71) -- as the Raiders were credited with 19 points. Obama had 64, while Brashear finished with 86. |

Upper Dublin girls placed six in the top 14 led by a 3rd place finish from Lucille Ionescu (19:49) to take home the league title over in a close battle 32-38. Upper Merion matched up nicely with the champions with the title being ultimately decided by the 4th and 5th runners, which was a 5 point difference between the teams. 
For the boys, Austin Cooper of Upper Merion ran 16:08 to win the individual title and help lead his team to within two points of the league title. But the top three of Wissahickon did just enough to propel their team to the league championship over Cooper and his Upper Merion team 44-46.
Casey Comber of Hatboro Horsham has rewarded all of his hard work on his road to becoming a household name in PA cross country. The junior ran the 2nd fastest time of the day out of all the Suburban One league races Friday, running 15:41 to hold off Jake Brophy of Central Bucks East by only 4 seconds. Behind those two fast performances, North Penn was putting together a 1-5 spread of 37 seconds with four in the top ten overall to win the league championship over Central Bucks East 49-69. 
Pennsbury girls came within 3 points of earning a perfect score on their way to repeating as league champions. The 3 time defending state champions scored 18 points with five of the top six runners to win the team title by 40 points. Olivia Sargent followed in the footsteps of her older sister Sara by winning the league championship with a time of 18:13. Pennsbury had 3 girls break the 19 minute mark in the race. 
For the boys, Ross Wilson of Council Rock North showed his quality and will be a force to reckon with in the next couple of weeks. The senior ran the fastest time of the day at Lehigh with a time of 15:31 to win by 18 seconds over Sam Webb of Pennsbury. Council Rock North also had three of the first five runners overall and that was enough to hold off Pennsbury for the team championship 43-47, despite Pennsbury having all five of their runners in the top 17.
It was a tie. After 5000 meters of the ups and downs of the Belmont Plateau, Cardinal O'Hara and Archbishop Wood girls were tied at 30. But O'Hara's 6th runner was in shortly after their 5th, and they walked away with the title. Grace Mancini led the Lions with her first place 19:21.
For the boys', it was nearly a Cardinal O'Hara sweep of the top five spots, as they scored a PCL record of just 16 points. They were led by junior star Kevin James, who traversed the course in 15:45 after coming through the mile in 4:55.
Carrick and Obama Academy grabbed the team titles and the majority of the qualifying berths for Hershey as District 8 (Pittsburgh City League) kicked off the postseason with its championship meet at Schenley Park.
