Mid-Penn Boys' Recap

VARSITY RESULTS

Another week, another win for Noah Affolder (have I used that lede already before?)

Only this time, he wasn't chasing any records. Maybe he'll save that for two weeks from Saturday when he'll return to Big Spring for the District 3 Championships. Noah and his brother Sam Affolder hung around the pack and then made their move later in the race, ensuring a 1-2 finish, which they accomplished. Noah's time was 15:48, while Sam took runner-ups in 15:53.

Isaac Kole continued to impress as Carlisle's #3 runner, placing fourth overall in 16:00. That strong top three led Carlisle to the team win with 71 points over second place Lower Dauphin (89 points) and third place Cumberland Valley (100 points).

The conference's depth was on full display on Saturday. State College's Nick Feffer ran well to take third in 15:59. The Mechanicsburg duo of Alex Tomasko and Morgan Cupp were fifth and sixth respectively. Lower Dauphin took spots seven, nine, and ten with Colton Cassel, Jared Giannscoli, and Kyler Shea.

For Carlisle, Jack Wisner finished 31st and Bryce Dunkleberger was 35th to round out the scoring five for Carlisle. Cumberland Valley continued to show its depth. Led by Yahya Soliman (12th) and Josh Higgins (13th), they had a 34 secnd 1-5 gap to take third as a team.

Mechanicsburg was very strong through four, but they were without Michael Vigliano (their #5 runner at Paul Short). They would up fifth in the team race with 122 points, but would have likely been higher with Vigliano in the lineup on Saturday.

The District 3 Championships should be very interesting. They return to Big Spring in two weeks.
