The national record, Madison Wiltrout of Connellsville has graduated and is off to the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Wiltrout, who tossed an incredible throw of 185-08 as a sophomore to launch herself to the top of the all-time record books for high schoolers and won four consecutive AAA state titles, leaves a void, but as always, Pennsylvania is loaded with talent in the javelin.
The top returner this spring is Mifflin County's Skylar Ciccolini. She had a terrific sophomore campaign that included a District 6 crown and runner-up finish to Wiltrout in AAA at states. That success continued well into the summer. Ciccolini threw 164-09 at the Iron Wood Throwers Classic in Idaho for a new PR. She added two other throws over 160 feet, before capturing the AAU national title in Michigan.
Ciccolini has taken the fast track to success. Next up, as she told MileSplit in the summer, is throwing over 170 feet and possibility take a stab at Wiltrout's record.
