
The talent is stockpiled in the girls' sprints once again. The 200 meters is no exception with plenty of talented returners, including ten girls who have run under 25 seconds in the event.
Leading the charge of returners is Thelma Davies (above), the Girard College junior. She's won back-to-back state titles in AA in the 200 meters. In the 100, she took down the long-standing state record, but this year, she'll look to add the 200 meter state record to her resume. Dasia Pressley's state record stands at 23.52. Davies has run 23.89 indoors (her outdoor PR of 23.85 is from her freshman year) and she'll look to break Pressley's mark this spring.
While Davies will be heavily favored to repeat in AA, it's a different story in AAA. The favorite will be the defending champion, Hunter Robinson of Avonworth/Northgate (below). Now a senior, she has terrific range (she won the 100 and was second in the 400 meters at states last year). She ran 24.25 last season and will be the one to watch.
