
This past indoor track and field season saw Austin Kratz of Dock Mennonite saw the senior go from a very solid sprinter to one of the best in state history and the top 200 meter runner in the nation this year. Kratz enters his final prep season with some big goals and he'll shoot for another state title and more fast times.
Kratz had a legendary indoor season, especially in the 200, complete with a runaway state title. He went on to win the national title and run 21.01, the fastest time in state history. Kratz was the victim of a devastating false start at districts last season, preventing him from defending his AA outdoor state title at Ship in the 200. This year, he'll be the overwhelming favorite for the AA state crown. The all-time state record sits at 20.29, set by Clinton Davis of Steel Valley in 1983. Can Kratz take that down? It may take the right situation, but Kratz has proven that you can't bet against him.
