
After an XC state championship and an indoor 3K state crown, Rusty Kujdych of Neshaminy enters his final season of high school running with one hole left in his resume: an outdoor state title. Kujdych enters this spring as the top returner in the 3,200 meters after running 9:04.55 at the state meet to place third.
Kujdych has been close to unstoppable against Pennsylvania competition during his senior season. He ran 8:30.88 in the 3K indoors, so Kujdych will likely have his sights set on the nine minute barrier. But he'll get a good challenge from Butler's Noah Beveridge, who has been running well during his senior year as well. Beveridge took fifth in 9:07.26 at states in the 3,200 meters last year. While he focused on the mile at indoor states -- he took second in 4:16 -- Beveridge can certainly be a factor for an outdoor state crown.
That will be one great matchup to watch for in Ship if it comes to fruition. If we're lucky, fans may be treated to a similarly epic finish this year as...
