Kratz & Saunders Will Chase Fast Times: Top 500 Boys 100m Returners

After a historically fast year in the boys 100 meters, 2018 could be even more historic with plenty of top-tier talent back in the fray. In 2017, Journey Brown took down Leroy Burrell's 32-year-old PIAA-AAA state meet record in the 100 meters. Jahvel Hemphill also took down the PIAA-AA state meet record and won his fourth straight AA state title.

This year, big names are back and ready for more. Austin Kratz of Dock Mennonite was second to Hemphill last year, but as he has moved into his senior year, Kratz has improved in leaps and bounds. He shattered the 200 meter state record and ran the second fastest 60 meters in state history. He's won a 200 meter state title outdoors before, but never a 100 meter crown. That should change this season and Kratz should chase Hemphill's state meet record (10.47).
