Gambrell Will Hunt For More 20+ Jumps: Top 500 Girls Long Jump Returners

Arguably the deepest event in Pennsylvania this past winter was the girls' long jump. As we move into outdoor track and field, we're expecting even more big jumps from the big names of PA. An incredible 20 girls jumped 18 feet or better last spring that are back this season. At the top is Athens Area's Breana Gambrell.

Gambrell, a senior bound for Penn State in the fall, has one season left to continue to add to her legacy on the runway. Last year, she jumped 20-08.5, the longest NWI leap in state history. She jumped 20-01.5 indoors and will aim for more big jumps this spring. She'll also be looking to complete an historic four-peat in the AA long jump at the state meet.

She will, however, get some competition to the top spot in AA this season. Bentworth's Brenna Cavanaugh was third at states last season. She's a former indoor state champ and has a PR of 19-07.
