AAA Girls' 300m Hurdles Preview
A wealth of talent is back returns from the state final in the intermediate hurdles this season. Six of the eight medalists from last year are back, including the defending champion, Madison Langley-Walker of Upper Dublin.
Langley-Walker went 42.54 to win last season, and she got close to that at the District 1 Championships in some unfavorable weather, winning in 42.93. She held off Taylor O'Brien of Plymouth Whitemarsh, who took second in 42.96. O'Brien was third in the state final last year. That matchup between league and district foes will be one to watch this weekend.
Mount Lebanon's Molly Mangan ran 43.21 to win the WPIAL this past week. She's well ahead of schedule compared to last year, when she took sixth at states. Cumberland Valley's Taylor Jede will be one to watch. She ran 44.00 to win the District 3 crown last week. That time is just off her PR of 43.98, which she ran to place fourth in last year's state final.
After Langley-Walker and O'Brien, District 1 has a boatload of talent. Coatesville's Arianna Eberly was third in the district and comes in with a season best of 43.96. Cheltenham's Brianna Smith and Bria Barnes were fourth and fifth at District 1, respectively, and should be very competitive this weekend.
Warwick's Cassidy Kline, Oakland Catholic's Macey Crawford, Manheim Township's Leah Sassaman, and North Penn's Anais Williams will be in the mix to crack the top eight in this deep field.
