PTFCA Carnival - Boys Track Preview
In the 60 meters, Lampeter Strasburg's Ezra Mellinger will look to keep his great season in the sprints rolling. He'll be challenged by a talented group, looking to make a late-season statement. Those include Tyeshawn Worrell of Chambersburg, Overbrook's Tymir Jackson, and J.P. McCaskey's Dejon Manning.
Mellinger will also be one to watch in the 200 meters, which will feature Manning, Red Lion's Jerome Jessup, Conestoga's Henry Miller, and East Pennsboro's Drew Roman. Jessup is the top seed in the 400 meters, where Chester's Malachi Langley and Boyertown's Payton Stanziani will be his top challengers.
PA#1 Scott Honicker of Owen J. Roberts is the top seed in a good 60 hurdles field where Chase Longenecker of State College Area (PA#3) should give him a run for his money.
The mile should be a competitive battle. Wallenpaupack's Tyler Wirth (PA#2) is the one to beat, but expect West Chester East's Joshua Lewin, Haverford's Aiden Tomov, and Wyomissing's Ben Kuhn to make this a close one.
Watch for Ephrata's Tyler Shue in the 800 meters. The reigning state runner-up is yet to pop a quick 800 and Saturday should be the day for it. Wirth, Haverford's Brendan Campbell, Blue Mountain's Kevin Haas, and State College's Zach DeCarmine are also entered in this strong field.
Expect a good one in the 3K, as PA#4 Andrew Healey of Holy Cross and PA#5 Ian Miller of Manheim Township lead a field that also includes Dallas' Mitchell Rome, Cumberland Valley's Luke Klingenberg, and Boyertown's Christian McComb, among others.
