Girls 800m: Melissa Riggins (Shady Side Academy) - 2:10.75
Riggins won two state titles in Class AA last spring, and the sophomore showed she is back and ready to defend those titles again this spring.
At Friday's Baldwin Invitational, Riggins went 4:48 to win the 1600 meters (a PA No. 2). But she showed that she's one of the top doublers in the state, returning to run away with the 800 meter win in 2:10.75 to assume the state's top spot. Both times are PRs, too, which proves that Riggins is looking even better in year two.
