Anderson Runs Course Record 15:09 At Legends

Saturday closed out a big week for UNC commit Patrick Anderson.

The Mount Lebanon senior, who made his college decision known on Tuesday evening, went to Ohio this weekend for the Legends Meet and came away with a new course record and a 5K PR of 15:09.

Anderson already picked up wins at the Marty Uher Invitational, the Red, White & Blue Classic, and the PIAA Foundation Invitational, and on Saturday he added his fourth win of the season. This one was in runaway fashion.

He broke away early from eventual third place finisher Steven Zucca of Boardman (OH), and it was lights out for Anderson, who shattered the course record of 15:24, previously held by Tristan Dahmen of Maplewood (OH) from 2015.

PA No. 1 Anderson also led his Mount Lebanon team to the team title with 91 points, nine ahead of second place St. Ignatius. Lebo junior Barak Asher placed an impressive fifth place overall in the field in 16:05, also a 5K best. Next up for PA No. 4 Mount Lebanon will likely be the TSTCA Championships back at Cal U. on October 17. That will be a pivotal matchup with many of the WPIAL's best ahead of the WPIAL Championships, which come exactly a week after TSTCAs on the same course.

Anderson confirmed earlier in the week his future plans in Chapel Hill. But on Saturday, he proved he's still completely dialed in to the cross country season.
