A talented group of throwers are back this year and it. should create an interesting matchup for the state title in the lone PTFCA-contested throws event, the shot put.

The top throw from last winter came from Wilmington's Connor Vass-Gal, who had an impressive sophomore campaign. His best toss of 58-4.5 came at Youngstown and he ended up fifth at indoor states. Now a junior, he'll be looking to improve upon that and compete for a state crown. He threw 64-4.75 outdoors, which is nearly four feet better than the next closest returner.

Fleetwood Area's Jeff Kline is the top returner based on indoor state meet finish. He placed third last year behind seniors Brock Grundy and Nick Hyde at PSU last year. His best of 58-0.5 came at Kutztown. Wilson's Jack Miller is another contender. He saved his best last winter for states, throwing 54-1.5 to take fourth at Penn State. He threw 58-10 to win the Emerging Elite section of the shot at outdoor nationals last summer and has some good momentum comi...
