It was quite a three-day stretch for Maria Deaviz of Souderton last week.
After tossing her way to the national lead at Wednesday's Shot Put Night In The Valley at Perkiomen Valley, the senior one-upped herself two days later at the DVGTCA meet at Lehigh. Deaviz threw 49-3 at PV on Wednesday. But on Friday, she went even further tossing a best of 51-10.75 for the win.
That improvement of over two feet over her previous PR bettered her own US No. 1. Deaviz put on a show on Friday night. On her first attempt, she threw 49-7.25. On her second throw she went over 49 feet again with a 49-5.5. Then she closed out her series with the big one that nearly hit 52 feet.
Deaviz now has the nation's best throw by almost four full feet. The 51-10.75 moves her up to PA No. 3 all-time indoors now ahead of Payden Montana. Deaviz now the 16th best performer in United States high school history indoors.
