Boys' Distance Medley Relay Preview
Another compelling distance medley relay is on tap for Sunday at the state meet!
Hatboro-Horsham made a major statement earlier this season at the New Balance Games, dropping a still-state-leading time of 10:24.47. On Sunday, Hatboro will look to convert that into a state title. Two of Hatboro's top pieces are doubling back, though. If those two can summon a strong split, expect the Hatters to be right in the thick of it. Their season best is eight seconds faster than the next closest team.
The TFCAofGP Meet of Champions provided a great battle between two DMRs -- Garnet Valley and Radnor. On a dramatic anchor leg, Garnet Valley pulled out the narrow win, running a PA No. 2 10:32.58 to Radnor's PA No. 3 10:32.64. Both teams have proved their strength all season long in the relay and that will come to a head on Sunday.
Haverford Township went 10:35 at the VA Showcase, and that squad will look to take the big meet experience to use at Penn State this weekend. They have a good crop of distance talent to put them in the mix. Central Bucks East, Boyertown, State College Area, and North Penn are among the other teams that have run sub-10:40 this winter and can compete for spots in the top five.
LaSalle College also went sub-10:40 this season are the Explorers are the defending state champions in the event, and this team is very deep across the board and should be right in the mix for a high finish and possibly the victory.
