Boys' Field Recap - PTFCA Indoor State Championships
Fleetwood's Jeff Kline continued his tremendous senior season with a big series to capture his first shot put state title. Kline had two puts over 64 feet and another three that went past 63 feet. His best was a fourth round 64-7.5, which bettered his own US No. 2 for the win. Wilmington's Connor Vass-Gal had a big day as well, launching a best of 63-11.75, a US No. 3, which netted his second place.
It was another strong day for US No. 1 Jaden Price-Whitehead in the long jump. The Upper Dublin junior leapt 24-3.25 on his second attempt and that would be the winning jump. That's the first state crown for Price-Whitehead, whose 25-0 jump from a week prior leads the nation.
In the triple jump, it was all Cam Mbalo of Shaler Area. The senior had a great series on the runway, starting with a 47-3.5 jump and getting better from there. His best of 48-1.5 came in the third round and he won his first state title with a very strong series.
Council Rock South's John Franco won the pole vault in a good competition. The senior was clean all the way through 16-0.25, the winning vault, which came with the victory already secured. Franco also took some good attempts at 16-4.75, which would have broken the meet record.
Chestnut Ridge's Logan Pfister took home the top spot in the high jump. After being down to his last attempt at 6-4, the junior cleared that and then moved up to 6-6, which he cleared on his first attempt. Four others got over 6-6, but on misses, Pfister claimed the state title in the event.
