Individuals Breakdown

Mitchell Brett of Kutztown Area will go for his third straight D3-A individual title this fall. It was a strong 2019 for Brett, who repeating as district champ and then placed 13th at the state meet, earning his first state medal. Brett will be the big favorite to make it three in a row and will be a major top ten or better threat at the state level in Class A.

York Catholic's Joseph Rizzuto was fourth in the district last year. He should be a factor near the front again this season. Eric Shelton of the Christian School of York didn't race in the postseason last year, but ran 17:01 at the Gettysburg Invite, and has the potential to be up near the front, as well.

Trinity's Jasper Burd, Kutztown's Ryan Morstatt, and Fairfield Area's Gabe Schubring are among the others to watch for in D3-A this fall.

Team Preview

Kutztown Area won the district last year, and snagged the district's lone state qualifying spot last season. That squad went on to take 14th at the state meet. This year, however, D3-A gets two state qualifying spots instead of just one.

Still, the race for the district title will be an interesting one. Kutztown brings back five varsity boys from last year, led by Brett, the odds-on individual favorite. They are still the team favorites again. Fairfield Area, second in 2019, loses its top runner from last season, but also has five varsity boys back. They should be in the mix.

York Catholic, meanwhile, returns its full varsity team from last season, which placed third in the district. Expect YC to make it interesting for the top spot, or at least the top two. Trinity and Camp Hill can't be counted out either. An extra state spot means it's a lot more open in D3-A this fall.
