Meet Preview: PTFCA Indoor Track Carnival

Boys Preview - PTFCA Carnival

Track Events

The 55 meter dash will be an interesting matchup between some of the state's top sprint talents. The favorite looks to be last year's big breakthrough performer of the winter, Nashawn Dunbar of Wyomissing. After a big junior season, we'll see how he can start off his senior campaign. He'll be challenged by some strong sprinters, though, with Wilson's Ethan Capitano, Malvern Prep's D'Angelo Stocker, and Red Lion's Randy Fizer also in the field. Look for some quick times there.

Stocker will return for the 200 meters, where he'll be the one to beat, but look out for Luckie Tan of Penn Wood in that race. Roman Catholic's Tyler Boone is the top seed in the 400 meters. He was tenth in the state last year in the 400. In the 55m hurdles, Jake Rose of Southern Columbia will be one to watch. He was second at the Carnival last year and has a best of 8.28 in the 60 hurdles to his name.

Look for some good races in the distance events as well on Saturday for the boys. The mile looks to be a good one with Twin Valley's Noah Taylor, Cedar Crest's Tommy Bildheiser, Holy Ghost Prep's Elliot Puckett, and Jenkintown's Carter Geer among the top seeds.

In the 3K, Jenkintown's Luke Miller, who ran a PA#2 8:55 in the event a few weeks ago is in the field. But he'll be challenged by Hempfield's Aidan Hodge, JP McCaskey's Stephen Schousen, Malvern Prep's Collin Hess, Twin Valley's Anthony Engle, and Bonner-Prendie's Brian McGarrity. Expect a good battle for the win there. In the 800, Holy Ghost's John Horgan is the top seed is a very open field that includes a lot of boys that will have a shot to possibly dip under 2 minutes.

Field Events

Only the long jump and shot put will be contested at Saturday's Carnival as far as the field events go.

Malvern Prep's Ryan Rosenberger is the top seed in the long jump, but look for Abington's Javon Neely, Hempfield's Ryan Criste, and Dieruff's Jayden Booth to make a run at the top spot. In the shot put, the top seed is Jim Thorpe's Allan Bailor, who threw a best of 51-9 last winter.
